Bellbottom Chairs
04 March, 2021
A pair of kitchen table chairs in Red Oak.
These pieces are unique in design, but more importantly (to me) in provenance. I initiated this project prior to starting a formal study of woodworking, but finished just this February – almost a year into my journey. Ten plus months of which I spent every spare second – and admittedly, many I shouldn’t have spared – thinking about woodworking, designing furniture, or consuming associated content via podcasts, print media, and good ‘ole YouTube.
My aim here was to blend modern design with traditional materials, joinery, and finishes to offer something new yet familiar.
These chairs are not for sale, they will bless my home until they fail or I pass them on. I would like to build more, but I would insist on iterating the design. You can read more on the matter here.
