I am very proud of this Arts & Crafts style Blanket Chest. The lid and frame of the chest are solid mahogany salvaged from a custom window and door manufacturer that shuttered as a result of Covid-19 in late 2020. The panels are made from new cherry veneer plywood.
This piece features beautiful arched lines and traditional mortise and tenon construction. The crenelated through-tenons in the upper aprons are highly unique and speak to the level of craftsmanship and care that went into its design and fabrication. The piece has been finished with 100% eco-friendly materials that will last a lifetime with minimum of care and feeding. The lid is attached to the body of the chest with heavy-duty cast-zinc torsion hinges (similar to those in a laptop) which enable it to open smoothly, hold its position, and close without slamming.
